Counselling & Psychotherapy
Many people searching for therapy are looking for a safe space where they can talk to someone outside their existing support network in confidence, about the problems and difficulties they are experiencing without fear of being judged. I recognise that taking the first steps to make contact with a therapist can be a little daunting and so I aim to be both approachable and professional in my style of working.
Psychological therapy can be effective in helping people to overcome some of the challenges and struggles of modern life, such as depression, anxiety, stress, physical health problems, relationship difficulties, life limiting illnesses and bereavement. This isn’t an exhaustive list however so please do book yourself in for a free telephone consultation to discuss your particular circumstances.
I am passionate about developing respectful working relationships with the people I see in my practice, providing a safe space to talk openly and honestly. In my experience, therapy is most effective when there is a good working relationship between client and therapist, enabling us to work together to better understand your difficulties and to increase your sense of living a life that is of value to you and has meaning for you.
About me
I take an integrative approach to therapy which means that rather than using one particular model, for example cognitive-behavioural therapy, I draw upon a range of models, theories and research. This enables me to tailor your therapy to your specific needs, based upon the goals and aims of therapy we have identified to work on together.
I am also a trained Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner which can be particularly helpful to those people who find themselves a little stuck in the same unhelpful patterns in how they relate to themselves and those around them. Click here if you would like to know more about it.
I am also an EMDR therapist in training and this model has been found to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma in their lives.
I am a relational psychotherapist with a passion for developing collaborative and respectful relationships with the people I work with, providing a safe space to talk, think and understand. It is really important to me that my work with clients is founded upon the values of compassion, authenticity, curiosity and kindness. I really enjoy meeting individuals who are invested in their therapy as I work alongside them and support them to make the changes they desire while honouring their agency and autonomy in living a life that is of value and has meaning for them.
